From Cleveland Roots to College Grids

Our journey starts in Cleveland, where winning standards shaped Coach Hoover early. Competing at St. Edward High School, he helped secure two state championships, then earned his place at Grand Valley State University for six seasons. Multiple GLIAC All-Academic honors reflected disciplined habits in the classroom and on the field. Those experiences created a clear mission, to teach young athletes the exact receiver details and mindset required to compete with confidence.

Coaching Built On Standards

Our coaching philosophy is simple and demanding. We believe athletes deserve clear instruction, honest feedback, and a standard that never drops. Every route, release, and rep must have a purpose that carries into Friday nights and real game pressure. We coach hard and coach fair, holding athletes accountable while guiding them through mistakes. The goal is measurable growth in skill, discipline, and confidence that parents, teammates, and school coaches can all see.

Developing the Whole Athlete

Our work extends beyond clean routes and polished footwork. We challenge athletes to lead, communicate, and prepare like serious competitors. Film sessions, mentorship conversations, and detailed feedback help players understand coverages, handle adversity, and carry strong habits into school and home. Cleveland football is built on toughness and pride, and we match that by building athletes who represent their families, programs, and community with character as well as production.

Coach Profile

We built The Better Route Worldwide on lived experience, not theory. Coach Hoover competed at St. Edward High School in Cleveland, contributing to two state championship teams, then earned six seasons at Grand Valley State University. Across that stretch he secured multiple GLIAC All-Academic honors, proof that discipline in the classroom can match discipline on the field. Those standards guide every session we run today.

As a high-level high school coach and founder, he now translates college-level receiver details into clear, teachable steps for youth and high school athletes. Releases, stems, leverage, timing, and separation are broken down in simple language and drilled at game speed. Parents and athletes work directly with the same coach every time, gaining a consistent mentor who understands how to turn raw talent into reliable production and real confidence.

Mentor Profile

We approach coaching as leadership and mentorship, not just drill work. Coach Hoover sets a clear expectation, athletes show up on time, compete with focus, and accept honest feedback. Every route is coached with purpose so players understand the "why" behind each step. We lean on film study, detailed corrections, and direct conversation to teach athletes how to read coverages, manage emotions, and respond when things do not go their way.

The environment is competitive, yet it stays respectful and structured, which helps young athletes feel both challenged and supported. Accountability is shared, athletes are pushed to encourage each other, communicate clearly, and carry the same standards into school and home. Parents gain a partner who reinforces discipline, work ethic, and character, while athletes gain a trusted mentor who has walked their path and expects them to aim higher.
